WHAT TO EXPECT
At Richmond Physical Therapy/Ashland Physical Therapy, our friendly
caring staff works to make your time with us smooth and comfortable as
possible.

Upon Arrival
Our office staff is ready to greet you and assist you with required
paperwork, as well as provide you with your insurance coverage and
obligations. Please plan on arriving 10-15 minutes prior to your
appointment time in order to fill out the paperwork, or you can complete
the forms in advance by referring to the
Patient Forms page.

Please be sure to bring your prescription from your physician and your
insurance card with you.
Insurance
As a courtesy to you, our staff will call your insurance carrier to check on
your policies and benefits. They will then let you know what your
insurance responsibilities will be, such as co-payments or
co-insurance/deductibles. For further information, please refer to the
Insurance Page.
Length of Session
Please allow up to one hour for your initial visit and 45-60 minutes for follow-up appointments. At the time of the
initial evaluation, your physical therapist will discuss the frequency of your follow-up visits.

Appropriate Attire
We recommend bringing or wearing comfortable clothing (i.e. shorts for knee patients and short sleeves or tank
top for shoulder patient) and shoes to your appointment.

Evaluation
After competing your check-in process, you will be introduced to your therapist and proceed to a treatment
room. Your therapist will review your medical history, perform an evaluation of your current injury or diagnosis,
and determine an individualized treatment plan. The therapist may then instruct you on some home exercises.

Physician Update
Our staff is committed to communicating frequently with your physician regarding evaluation findings, treatment
plans, and your progress. This allows for an interdisciplinary team approach to your care.
